How to Keep Your Scrapbook Supplies Organized
Are you new to scrapbooking? Is it a hobby that you enjoy more everyday? If so, you may want to expand your scrapbook supplies. Beginners tend to start out small, but as your quality improves, so may your ideas. Unfortunately, the more scrapbook supplies you buy, the harder it can be to stay organized.
Before focusing on ways that you can organize your scrapbook supplies, you should know why it is important to do so. For starters, organization can improve your scrapbook quality. You may have found a neat sticker sheet for Valentine's Day, but if you can't find it, you may opt for your second choice.
Speaking of which, that leads to another benefit of staying organized, saving money. If you cannot find a supply that you purchased, due to being unorganized, you may purchase another. This can result in you spending unnecessary money. And, when you finally do find what you needed, you might not use it again.
So, how can you keep your scrapbooking supplies organized? In all honesty, your options are unlimited. One popular approach is to purchase clear plastic storage drawers. Inside each drawer, you can store your supplies. For example, one drawer can house all paper products, another your photographs, another your stickers, and another your other supplies, such as scissors, glue sticks, and markers.
You can also rely on the use of ziplock bags. They come in a number of different sizes, so most of your supplies should fit inside. Have a bag for your stickers, one for your markers, one for your glue sticks, and so forth. If you have a large collection of stickers, sort them. For example, place all Christmas stickers in one bag and Easter stickers in another. Once filled, all of these ziplock bags can be stored in a cardboard box.
If you are new to scrapbooking and have yet to develop a large collection of supplies, an expandable storage case or poly envelope can do the job. These items are very affordable and may even be included in a beginner's scrapbooking kit. As you increase your supplies, you can examine other options if you find yourself limited on room.
If you are an avid or professional scrapbooker, you also have the option of buying stow away tables. These tables not only provide you with a workstation, but hidden compartments for you to store your scrapbooking supplies. As for why this product is best left for avid or professional scrapbookers, it is because they are expensive. A stow away table for scrapbooking can easily cost $200.
In addition to organizing your purchased scrapbook supplies, you also need to keep your photographs organized. There are a number of benefits to doing so. One of those benefits is not missing anything. If you are making a scrapbook in chronological order, you may be disappointment when you later found a photograph too late. When your photographs are organized, this will not be an issue.
So, how should you organize your photographs? It depends on the flow of your scrapbook. As previously stated, if you are doing a book in chronological order, start with the photographs you will use first, such as your baby's first year. If you have a hundred or more photographs, a pile may be out of the question. Standard pictures fit into ziplock bags, so use them. In keeping with chronological order, label each bag with the year.
In addition to organizing your scrapbooking supplies and photographs, also organize your workstation. If you are like many hobbyists, you may scrapbook at your kitchen table. This is okay, but keep your table clear. This allows you to spread out your supplies, ensuring you don't miss anything important. If you only have a set amount of time to scrapbook, stop early to cleanup. Make sure all your supplies go back into their designated section.
As highlighted above, keeping your scrapbook supplies organized is a very easy process, especially since you have so many options.
