Do you want to ask a girl on a first date? If so, the perfect destination is the movie theater. Although you won't be able to talk much during the movie, you will have that movie to talk about at dinner. In a way, dinner and a movie tends to eliminate some of that common first date awkwardness.

It is easier to ask a girl that you already know on a date. For example, do you want to ask a girl at school or someone at the office? If so, you already know a little bit about them. So, start a casual conversation first. Say hi and ask them how their weekend was. Then, ask about the movies. By starting a conversation first, it will eliminate some of your nervousness. For that reason, get a casual conversation started before you pop the question.
After you have started a casual conversation with the girl you want to ask to the movies, ask. You can outright ask. Say something like “There are a lot of good movies playing at the theater this weekend. Would you like to go?” Unless this is a group outing, the girl will assume it is a date. So, you don't even have to mention the word date. This may also help to calm your nerves. After all, it is just dinner and a movie.
It is easier to ask a girl that you already know to a movie and dinner, but don't let that stop you. Do you see someone at a sporting event or a bar who you think is attractive? If so, introduce yourself and ask if she would be interested watching a movie with you.
The best way to ask a girl to the movies is to just ask, do it outright. However, that may be easier said than done. If you really like the girl or woman, you may be a bit nervous. You should never let fear of rejection hold you down. If you want to limit your risks, mention a movie playing at the theater. Say “It looks like a good movie doesn't it?” If she answers yes, ask her if she would like to go with you.
Taking the roundabout approach, by fishing to see if she is interested in a movie showing, is okay, but be cautious with your approach. “I want to see a movie this weekend, but I don't want to go alone, would you like to go too?” That sounds like a nice casual way to ask a girl to a movie, but it may backfire. Girls wants to believe guys are interested in them. With this line, you are essentially saying “I don't want to go alone, so how about you go with me instead?” Avoid this approach at all costs.
As previously stated, the best first date combination is movie and then dinner. If you are nervous about asking a girl on a date, it may be best to ask about the movie first. When you later finalize your plans, sneak in dinner. Do this once your confidence level has already been built up with a yes answer.
